Anchorage Chamber of Commerce hears about the state of Industrial Land Availability

Bill Popp, President and CEO of AEDC recently presented the findings of the “Anchorage Industrial Land Assessment” study which was commissioned by AEDC and the Municipality of Anchorage. The study by land economics consulting firm Economic & Planning Systems, Inc. (EPS) found that should forecasted population and job growth occur, the Anchorage area will end up short of needed industrial land.

Anchorage experiencing jobs growth so far this year

According to the latest preliminary numbers recently released by the Alaska Department of Labor, Anchorage saw an average of 2,267 new jobs created in Anchorage in the first quarter 2009 compared to the same period in 2008.

AEDC releases 2008 annual report

The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation released its 2008 annual report this month at the second quarter 2009 Board of Directors meeting. Copies of the report are being mailed to all AEDC investor companies. The report summarizes highlights from the year as well as key economic indicators for the city and AEDC financial data.
